Comme des Garçons
Moving Six

Between 1988 and 1991, Comme des Garçons created a print magazine that explored the theme of the sixth sense through photography, illustration and artworks across eight issues of the unstapled A3 magazine called “Six.” Edited by famed Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo, this publication is in and of itself a cult-favourite collectible — a coveted staple for Comme des Garçons followers.

Building on this appreciation for Six Magazine, Meri Media created “Moving Six,” an app that navigates through the print archive, exploring photography and auditory space through parallax scrolling, puzzles and physical gesture.

This one-of-a-kind, one-time issue was unburdened by marketing targets or metrics. As such, it was created as a true piece of digital art — an approach that echoed the non-conformist and creative independence of the Comme des Garçons company.
